It’s time for “First Line Fridays” again. 🙂 Last night, I just finished the book I’m about to share with you and I’m still thinking about it this morning. Love those books that stay with you.
*Don’t forget… you can join in on the weekly fun by grabbing the book nearest to you and leaving a comment with the first line. I can’t wait to hear what you’re reading!
————————————————————————————————————————-
The book I’m excited to feature today is The Story of With by Allen Arnold. I sat in his class at the recent ACFW and was so encouraged by what he had to share. When he blessed me by giving me a free copy of his book (signed, of course!) I knew I had to read it immediately. What a beautiful message it offers to readers. It’s unique, thought-provoking, and a treasure to keep.
And the first lines are:
“Most of us are stuck in a story of without. We go about our tasks and get through the day without much hope, without our dreams realized, without deep friendships, and without experiencing the presence of God.”

Find “The Story of With” on

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
Happy Friday, my friends!!
The first line on my blog this week is from Toni Shiloh’s latest book ‘Returning Home’. I’ll share with you here a book that I just started reading last night.

Ooh, that sounds interesting.

-Colors of Christmas by Olivia Newport
Happy Weekend!
Great to meet you here, Becky. I love swapping first lines with other readers. I’ve not heard of the book you shared. I’ll have to look it up. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend too!

This one is on my bookshelf right now! Need to get into it.
I shared the first line of April McGowan’s Hold the Light today.
Here’s the first line of the book I just finished reading:
“How can I help?”
from The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay
Hi Suzie! Awww, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 🙂 I’ve been wanting to read Katherine Reay’s book. Thanks for sharing!
Goodness, what a sad first line, but it speaks directly to reality and to the heart. It definitely sets a challenge to set goals everyday, grow closer to the Lord, and live life to the fullest. Happy Friday Savanna!
Hi Heather! I totally agree. The book really offers a wonderful perspective of living our lives in a closer relationship with God. I highly recommend it. 🙂 Happy Friday to you too, my friend!
That sounds very interesting. I will be adding it to my list of books to purchase. Thanks for sharing it. The book I’m featuring on my blog is Perfectly Matched by Maggie Brendan. However, the book I will share here is Fire and Ice by Mary Connealy. “The bullet spit dirt up in Gage Coulter’s eyes, and he didn’t even flinch.”
Wonderful, Anneliese! I hope you enjoy it. I love the authors you mentioned here. Can’t wait to read both their books. 🙂
Happy Friday! I’m sharing the first line from Just the Way You Are by Pepper Basham over on my blog today, but here I’ll share the first line from another book I just finished, Out of the Storm by Jody Hedlund:
“Everyone’s dead.”
Hi Kathleen! Happy Friday to you too! Oh, I love Pepper Basham’s books!! 🙂 I’ve been wanting to read Jody Hedlund’s too. Thanks for visiting.

Mike Dolan was snoring when the telephone rang. Fly Away by Lynn Austin
Hi Caryl! I sooo want to read Lynn’s books. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
That sounds like a thought provoking book. Welcome to the First Line Friday fun!
Thank you, Ellie!
“The steep sides of the pass into the canyon pressed down on Heath Kincaid until he could hardly breath.” No Way Up by Connealy
Love Mary Connealy’s books. This one is on my TBR list. 🙂
Just finished The Captivating Lady Charlotte by guess who? Carolyn Miller! Number two in this Regency series!
The room glimmered with a thousand points of sparkling light, the bright glow from the enormous crystals-dropped chandelier glinting off heavily beaded gowns, ornate mirrors, and the desperation shining in dozens of pairs of eyes.
I’m a few pages from the end of The Butterfly and the Violin. This one has taken me so long to read. I can only take a little at a time but it was very excellent!
Beautiful first line! Thanks for sharing, Paula.
Ohhhh, I LOVED The Butterfly and the Violin. It’s a story to savor, for sure!
Sorry that I didn’t get this posted on Friday. I want to share the first line from the first chapter instead of from the prologue: (This is a REALLY fun book to read!)
A New Shade of Summer by Nicole Deese:
“I jiggled the locked doorknob again and wished, not for the first time, that it was legal to use tranquilizer darts on adolescent boys.”
Ha! That’s an awesome first line. So glad you could stop by, Becky. Have a great weekend!
