Welcome back to the blog, Becky. I’m so honored to have you here today. Congratulations on your recent release, Her One and Only. I can’t wait to read this!

Thank you, Savanna! I appreciate the opportunity to visit you here on The Engrafted Word again. Thanks for hosting me!

Now that you’ve reached the conclusion of The Porter Family series, do you have one character you will miss the most?

Interview with Becky Wade & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordI loved writing each and every one of the Porter family characters, for different reasons.

Hmm…. I’ll probably miss Ty Porter the most because he was the most fun to write and because he was so very vivid in my imagination. From the beginning, he jumped onto the page full blown, brimming with swagger and humor.

What was one of your favorite scenes to write in Her One and Only?

I thoroughly enjoyed writing the novel’s climactic scene. In that scene, Dru and Gray finally confront the stalker they’ve been tracking since the beginning of the story. When I received my first print copy of Her One and Only in the mail, that was the one of the scenes I flipped to so that I could re-read it and re-live all the action, drama, and emotion of it.

Did you come up with the title? If not, can you share with us the previous title you had picked?

Interview with Becky Wade & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordAll of the Porter family books have possessive pronouns in their titles. The first three books used yours, mine, and ours. So I knew I’d need a title for the final book with a possesive prounoun in it. My working title for the novel was Only His but I was never terribly enthusiastic about it.

When it came time to present potential titles to Bethany House, readers and friends helped me brainstorm a whole list of ideas. His One and Only was on that list. After further thought, my editors and I came up with Her One and Only because the Porter character in the novel is the heroine. That being the case, it seemed to us that if we were going to use either his or her in the title then we should go with her. Her One and Only stuck!

One of the things I like about the titles of the Porter books is that they can all be viewed in a romantic sense, but they can also be viewed as referring to the characters’ love for God and/or God’s love for the characters. Since my novels are all faith stories as well as love stories, I appreciate that about the titles.

How cool! I love hearing how the title came about. 🙂 What has been the most memorable book you’ve read so far this year?

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It was both hard and beautiful. I cried through the final chapter and it’s stuck with me since I finished it.

What’s something your readers would be surprised to know about you?

Interview with Becky Wade & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordI do most of my “reading” via audible books I listen to while I drive. I spend a significant portion of every day driving my three kids (ages 15, 12, 7) around town. I’ve discovered the joy of listening to audible books during those hours! Leisure time at home (during which I could read print books) is very scarce during this season of my life.

Thank you so much for sharing with us today, Becky! Is there anything else you’d like to add? Any upcoming projects you can share with us?

I’m currently putting the finishing touches on Book #1 in a brand new family series! This series is called The Bradford Sisters and the first of the three books will release next May. Since I’m one of three sisters, it’s been fun to write about heroines who share the link of sisterhood.

That sounds great! Looking forward to reading it. 🙂 Have a great summer, Becky!
