Savanna:  Welcome to The Engrafted Word, Ronie. Congratulations on having 2 upcoming releases this year! 🙂 As you wrap up The Quiet Professionals Series, what do you hope readers will remember most about these books? What will you remember most about them?

Interview with Ronie Kendig & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordRonie:  Thanks for inviting me over! It’s been a couple of crazy years, and I really hope that readers will remember not only the journey the characters took, but the journey they were on at the same time. For me, it was a crazy-busy and challenging two years, and I know, from comments and feedback on my reader page on Facebook, that I’m not alone in that. I hope that readers will see how God connected their hearts to his through stories, that He drew back the veil so they could see that He knew, He saw their hurts/pains. For me, I will remember how God carried me through these stories, which I found to be the most challenging books I’ve ever written.

Savanna:  What (or who) are you looking most forward to introducing to your readers in your fall release of Embers and the launch of Abiassa’s Fire fantasy series?

Ronie:  Embers was a bit of a fluke in how it came into existence, but I’m really excited for readers to meet my hero, Haegan, a very unlikely hero, who holds all the potential for greatness but can’t see it nor does he believe it.

Savanna:  How many books are you typically working on at once? (From first story spark to publication and beyond) 🙂

Interview with Ronie Kendig & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordRonie:  Typically, I’m working on 2-3 books at the same time, and it’s quite exhausting and sometimes, even confusing! Right now, I’m working on a novella for a new suspense series, but I’m also working on the full-length novel, as well as plotting the second book in the Abiassa’s Fire series, Accelerant. To me, it’s easier when it’s a speculative novel and a suspense novel to keep the characters and stories straight, but sometimes, the journeys converge somehow.

Savanna:  I read on your website that you homeschool your children. I was homeschooled too, so that part naturally caught my eye. 🙂 What has been one of the greatest blessings of homeschooling for you and your family? What about a challenge?

Ronie:  The greatest blessing for me is “learning” my children—generally, I can read my children pretty well, and I know them on a deep level. Also, one of my children has Asperger’s and being able to give him room to figure things out and not just grow, but to thrive—that does my mama’s heart good. The biggest challenge is when multiple “events” occur around the same time—a book deadline, an edit due, marketing for a new release—all while schooling my amazing kiddos.

Savanna:  Can you tell us when and how you first came up with your tagline “Rapid-Fire Fiction”? (Love it, by the way!)

Interview with Ronie Kendig & GIVEAWAY | The Engrafted WordRonie: Thank you!! The year after Nightshade released, my publisher brought us in for a marketing training. It was really fascinating and they had us work on our brands. I’d wanted to use “Bullet-Time” because I’d taught a class about Bullet-timing your fiction. But I learned that was actually a trademarked term by the creators of the Matrix, so I worked to find a new one…and Rapid-Fire popped into my head. It’s taken hold—a strong hold—because it’s about pacing, about keeping your audience ensnared. And it fits my genre(s). Even my fantasy novel is fast-paced, so I think it’s a perfect brand for any novel/novella written by Ronie Kendig.

Savanna:  Thanks so much for stopping by today, Ronie. It’s great to have you here. Is there anything else you’d like to add? Any upcoming projects you can share with us?

Ronie: Yes! With the advent of my speculative fiction releasing, I’ve had many people ask if I’m stepping away from suspense. Absolutely not!! It’s my first love, and I’m delighted to say I’m working on a new suspense series that will release Fall 2016. More details coming soon!

Savanna: Sounds great! Can’t wait to find out more. Hope you have a blessed 2015, Ronie!
