Welcome to the blog, Gabrielle! I’m so happy to have you join us today. When did you first start writing?

I remember writing when I was at least 10 years old. It was going to be a screen play combining my love of Lord of the Rings and the plot of the movie Timeline. However, I didn’t really start crafting stories of my own until I was in high school when I took a class at my local home school group that geared on writing a novel.

What are you working on right now?

I just finished Secrets of the Past, which is book one in my Charlotte Walker mystery series. Right now I’m plotting/planning on the sequel to it as well as plotting/planning the first novel in my WWII series.

Can you tell us about one of your favorite characters you’ve written so far?

My favorite character I’ve written so far is Charlotte Walker, who is the Heroine in Secrets of the Past. She is a fellow historian (like me) who is from MA and loves to read and solve mysteries. So you can say I sort of based her off of myself.

Gabrielle EmmonsWhat’s something you love about your home state?

I love the rich history that surrounds Massachusetts. A few summers ago, my family and I traveled back out East and were able to tour the Freedom Trail in Boston. We also visited the Lexington and Concord as well as Philadelphia and Valley Forge.

Ah, I would love to visit those places some day. How cool!

What’s one of your favorite books?

Hmm…that is a tough question for an English major. I will have to say The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.

What is one of your favorite Scripture verses?

Jeremiah 29:11. This verse has been very influentially and uplifting in my life as a college student.

That’s one of my favorites too. 😉

Can you share with us a special moment from your writing journey so far?

I think a special moment for me was sending some of my chapters to a couple of my favorite historical fiction authors. They are so encouraging and one of them even told me that I was very good writer which was really nice to hear.

What’s been one of the most challenging aspects of writing?

Story structure and making sure the Inciting Event is where it is supposed to be in the story.

Name a few authors who inspire you.

Jocelyn Green, Sarah Sundin, Susan Elia MacNeal, and Rachel D. Muller.

Can you share a word of advice to other writers out there on the road to publication?

Yes. Never ever give up. Writing can be tough sometimes and many are tempted to give up. Don’t. It gets easier the more you write. Also, read. Read everything you can on the genre you want to write.

Thank you so much for sharing with us, Gabrielle. I’m so excited to read your work! 🙂 Have a blessed 2016!
