I just started a new series entitled Mary’s Bookshop Mysteries.  Of course, once I discovered this remarkably interesting mystery, I could not stop reading and trying to figure out the case.  This particular story is a bit different from what I might typically read—I tend to read a lot of cozy mysteries.  However, I happened to purchase the first book at my local library, and since then have found that there are twenty-four other books that follow the life and adventures of Mary.  Even more interesting is that each book is written by a different author!  Now, each author writes more than one book, but as you go along, you will find a different writing style and perspective depending on who wrote the novel.  I find that so incredibly amazing!

Usually, one person writes an entire series, but sometimes there will be multiple authors engaged in a series if each book details a completely different person or setting.  But for multiple authors to write about the same person and setting—that is truly an amazing accomplishment.  Let me know if you are familiar with any other books that are like this—I would love to look them up.

As I have said, this story follows Mary and her path to opening a bookstore, which I will confess is a dream of mine.  She is recently widowed and moves to Ivy Bay to live with her sister, while pursuing her goal that she and her husband set out to accomplish.  Along the way, Mary meets several animated characters and even gets reacquainted with some individuals from her past.

As a reader, with all of these introductions, one begins to wonder who Mary can really trust.  Even the people form her past end up on her suspect list.  After a crime is committed in her bookshop, Mary must find out who is to blame.  But will she end up in more trouble than it is worth?  Or will Mary be able to uncover truths that others cannot?  As she gets to know this town again, Mary soon realizes that so many who reside in Ivy Bay have numerous secrets they are not willing to share.

If you love mysteries, I recommend reading this book.  I have already purchased the next story in the series, so I will keep you updated!  What books have you been enjoying this spring?  I’m always looking for recommendations–happy reading everyone!
