It didn’t take me long to realize that finding the right name for my blog wasn’t going to be easy. I drew out my trusty notebook (Yes, I’m still a “paper & pen” girl) and wrote down every idea that popped into my head, but nothing seemed to fit. What name could possibly encompass my heart & hope for this new labor of love?
Leave it to God to answer in His own wonderful unique way – when I wasn’t looking.
Over the summer, my mom and I had been studying Beth Moore’s devotional on James and were memorizing our way through his inspired words. (Worth every minute!)
As I was working through the verses on my front porch one quiet morning, a phrase stood out to me that had never grabbed my attention before – “Receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls.”
Instantly the Lord brought my blog to mind. It was as if He’d pointed to the exact words on the page.
Of course. Something that wasn’t there before – a new life – established or planted firmly within.
That’s what I want my humble home online to be all about. Celebrating the new life we’ve been given in Christ. Establishing the stories He’s called us to write and placed on our hearts. And planting seeds of encouragement, hope, friendship, and advice to grow writers and their stories.
If Christ is not engrafted into our writing, then our pencils will never be sharp and the pages will always be empty. Our stories must begin and end with Him – our Engrafted Word.
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever.
(Romans 11:36)
