I hope everyone is having a lovely week!  Can you believe Thanksgiving is already here?  It seems as though November passed by very quickly, and I know Christmas will be here just as fast.  For me, I want to savor every moment of this holiday season.  It is so special to be able to connect with family and friends any time of the year, but especially during these months.

This year may look very different for all of us, but I hope you are able to reach out to your loved ones this year, and I pray that you have a magical season full of blessings!  Please let us know how we can pray for you in the comments below.

During this quarantine time, I have be re-watching some of my favorite shows–one in particular is Downton Abbey.  Not only do I love reading historical fiction, I love watching historical programs that allow us to take a step back in time.  These stories are so incredible, because they help us to see another era through the eyes of the characters who lived there.  We never lived in England during World War I, but we can learn more about these events through the pages of a book, and through the stories of those who lived, struggled, and conquered so many moments during those days.

I’m not sure if knowing this history helps us during these difficult times we are facing, but it should comfort us to know that we are not alone.  Firstly and most importantly, the Lord is with us, but secondly we must remember that there have been other individuals who have overcome perilous times–it can be done!  Books have always been a comfort to me, and it has been so imperative to understand and explore other eras–the roaring twenties in Downton Abbey, the Great Depression in the Walton’s, and even to discover a new decade with the detectives in Endeavor.  All of these people lived and worked in various times before us, but their voices are still important today, and we can learn so much from them.  If you have a moment, please take the time to research the biographies of these wonderful individuals and be encouraged by their perseverance.

Today we celebrate America’s birthday, and we remember those who fought so hard to protect our country and those who were there when American first began.  Considering the history of the USA today helps us to understand why July 4th is so important, and I am so grateful and honored to call this great land my home.  What festivities do you have planned for the 4th and are there any fun traditions your family enjoys?

I hope that all of you are having a good start to your week.  For many of us right now, each day consists of the same tasks and melds quite easily into the next–in fact, there are moments when I don’t even know what day it is.  Is it Monday or Wednesday?  Does anybody know?

Our world is challenging and strange these days, and it is only with the Lord’s help that I am able to put one foot in front of the other.  This fact has always been true of course, but I am aware of its importance daily during these difficult times.  I am reminded of the Bible verse Isaiah 41:10–“Fear not, for I am with you, Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

No matter what is going on in this life, we can hold onto that promise.  Jesus will always be by our side, and He is ready to help us when we need Him.  All we have to do is call out to Him.  God bless you my friends–praying for all of you!

I’m not really sad to say goodbye to March, are you? Let’s face it, this month has been hard for everyone. But God is still faithful and sovereign and good. Spring is awakening around us and new beginnings stir my heart with fresh hope. By God’s grace, we’ll get through this, dear friends.

Happy February friends!  How has 2020 been going thus far?  Is there anything Savanna and I can pray about for you?  Each day of this year has slowly ticked by for me, and I think most would agree–January lasted one hundred years!  I have never liked January–I think that is mostly because it is the sad month after Christmas and a terrible retail month.  However, two of my best friends have birthdays in the month, and one of those friends also claims a wedding anniversary in January.  So, there are wonderful things to celebrate in this month, but it is also nice for the calendar to flip over to February.  🙂

This February has been busy for me and filled with unexpected changes.  Have you ever felt deflated or like the rug has been pulled out from under you?  That has been me this month.  Thankfully, the Lord has been right by my side helping me to cope with these changes and also to understand how necessary they were.  Change can be hard, but it can also be freeing.  Have you experienced anything like this in 2020?  If so, I understand, and will be here praying for you.  I too covet your prayers as well.  Remember, we are not alone, Jesus is our rescue story.

Happy New Year everyone!  Wow, 2020, what a great sounding year!  Who is excited for this year?  I know that I am—mostly because 2019 was a tough year for my family, so I am so grateful to turn a new page and enter the days of 2020.  It is so wonderful to know that tomorrow is another day…with no mistakes in it as Anne of Green Gables would say…and that the Lord meets us there.  He is ready to walk beside us throughout the joys and challenges of each day.  Remember, He is making all things new (Rev. 21:5).

The holidays are just around the corner, and already I can feel the pressure.  This is my favorite time of the year, but my sadness comes with knowing how quickly these days come and go.  Do you remember when you were young, and Christmas seemed like it would never get here?  At times, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas feel like they are all on the same day.  Even retailers make this apparent.  Before Halloween is even behind us, all things pumpkin have disappeared, and Christmas trees are in their place.  Society pushes us forward, and somehow, we cannot stop following this force.  And no, I am not talking about becoming a Jedi.  🙂

It is so important to take delight in every day, because each day is truly a gift from the Lord (1 Chronicles 16:34).  Even though there might be some stress, I am so grateful for another holiday season, and I cannot wait to share these moments with family and friends.  What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?  For my family, we always get together at my grandparents, and each family member brings a favorite dish.  Since I am the baker of the group, I enjoy coming up with new dessert treats along with making our old favorites.

In November, let each of us try to cherish the moments, as we ignore how much others might want to push us forward to the next event in life.  I want to enjoy all the occasions that make up Thanksgiving before I move onto Christmas—how about you?  Each day is special, and I pray that your days are wonderful!  Happy Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas friends!

I hope everyone is having a lovely summer.  Most people know that summer is my favorite season, and even though I love fall colors and clothing, I cringe every time the weather begins to turn chilly.  Summer just never seems to last long enough.

Do you have any favorite times where you hope the moment will never end?  I know that life does not let us pause long enough to enjoy every single day—it would be so nice if we could hit the rewind button in order to go back to a particular memory.  Why are we so busy, and why do we have to let our schedule dictate every precious minute?  For myself, I wish I could spend more time with my family and friends, but certain obligations and responsibilities constantly show up and keep me from what I would prefer to be doing.

For Prayer Pals this week, I would like to remind you that each day is a gift.  You and I are so blessed to wake up each morning and start the day afresh (Revelation 21:5).  Rejoice in that!  I know that sometimes I forget to thank the Lord for every moment He gives to me, but I want to do better in future.  So, with me, let us praise the Lord this week for all that He has given us.  He is an amazing and awesome Father, and He loves us so much.
