Today I’m drawing a book off my bookshelf that I’ve had for awhile now. I love Deeanne Gist’s books and was excited to find this on sale for $2.00! What a bargain! 🙂 I’m in the middle of reading it right now.

Today, my first line Friday is from Christmas at Grey Goose Lodge by Phyllis Clark Nichols…..

Happy Friday! I will have to check out her books. The covers look fun! My first line (a little longer) is from Anne Greene’s Avoiding the Mistletoe:
Olivia Rose Baker glanced up from the headlines in the Massachusetts Matrimonial Gazette. With an explosive smack, she slapped the newspaper on the top of the breakfast table. “No! I refuse.”

My first line is from a historical fiction book, too, though mine is a Medieval book by Joyce DiPastana, The Girl by the River:
Robert almost tripped over the scythe.

I have not yet read any of Deanna Gist’s books but one of my former co-workers raved about her, so I know she’s good.

I do enjoy Deeanne Gist’s novels, but I didn’t think this was as witty as some of her earlier books. I think A Bride in the Bargain is my favourite.
I’m sharing from Imperfect Justice by Cara Putman over on my blog today. But I’m currently reading Piercehaven by Robin Merrill, which is kind of a girls basketball version of Friday Night Lights, except set on an island off the coast of Maine. Here’s the first line:
She had expected it to be a poetic voyage. She had expected sunshine and whitecaps, a sea song to serenade her as she sailed toward her new home.

Oh my goodness! I have had this series for years, but I still have not read it. 🙁 There are so many books on my bookshelves that I need to read. I didn’t realize it was set in Asheville either…beautiful city. Happy Saturday and Happy Thanksgiving Savanna!

This is a delightful story! I’ve visited The Biltmore House on numerous occasions and have read this story more than once since it first came out.
