Welcome back to the blog, Kathleen. I’m so glad to have you here today. Congratulations on your upcoming release, The Pirate Bride. I canβt wait to read it!
What do YOU love most about the hero and heroine in this story?
I love that while neither of these two expected where their lives would end up, they both made the best of the journey.
Did you discover anything surprising while researching for this book?
I discovered I could make a deadline even during a hurricane, Hurricane Harvey, to be specific. While the wind and rain blew outside my Houston area home, I finished this book.
That’s incredible! Sounds like this story has taken quite the journey to get here. π
If you could go out to lunch with one of your fictional characters, who would it be and why?
Maribel, my Pirate Bride heroine, would be so much fun. Sheβs a bookworm who dared to sail with privateers. Who wouldnβt want to chat with her?
I know I would! π
Can you share with us a piece of writing advice that helped you in your career?
See point #2. Write no matter whatβs happening around you. Wanting to write will never get a book done. Nor will talking about writing or taking classes, attending writer groups, etc. Just. Write. Even if you feel like what you write is nothing but junk, put words on the page. A little bit every writing day adds up to a lot.
So true. So important.
What’s something your readers would be surprised to know about you?
I turned down a date with Lyle Lovett in college.
Really? Wow! My husband and I saw him in concert a few years ago. π
Is there anything else you’d like to add? Any upcoming projects you can share with us?
Iβm very excited to be part of a cozy mystery series βalong with eight other amazing authors–called The Secrets of Wayfarers Inn, which will be debuting in May. Purchase information for that series can be found very soon on the Guideposts site at www.shopGuideposts.org. Then in July I have another full-length historical romantic suspense, My Heart Belongs in Galveston, Texas, releasing with Barbour books.
You’re a busy woman, Kathleen. π That’s all very exciting. I’ll be watching for those new releases. Thanks so much for joining us today!

I’ve been to a few. I think I enjoyed Collin Raye the most! So good! It’s funny though…I don’t even listen to country music anymore.
It’s funny how our music taste changes through the years. I’ll have to look him up. I don’t recall having heard of him before. Thanks for sharing, Hannah!
The only concert Iβve ever been to was The Piano Guys and I loved it!!!
Oh, I bet they were amazing live! I would LOVE to see them some day in concert. π

Thank you so much for hosting me, Savanna!
It’s a joy to have you here, Kathleen. Hugs!!
It’s a toss up between Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire (they toured together) and Pat Benatar. Totally different music but I love both of them.
Sounds like fun to me! Thanks for sharing, Mara. Good luck in the giveaway!
I’ve been to several concerts, but it’s been a long time ago. I’ve seen the Beach Boys and Neil Diamond. We had some friends visit from Scotland and ended up with an impromptu bagpipe concert in our back yard! That was so much fun!
Loved your comments, Winnie. What fun memories. π
I went to a Beach Boys concert back in college in the venue that is now Lakewood Church. Amazing concert! My kids went to a high school where the mascot is the Highlander, so I heard lots of bagpipe concerts during their growing up years!
Kathleen, you writing through a hurricane blows all my excuses out of the water (pun intended)! My daughter spent spring break in Houston doing hurricane clean up.
Please convey my thanks to your daughter! π
HAHAHA! We here in Houston are so appreciative of the outpouring of help. Please thank your daughter!
So glad you could stop by, Karen. Sounds like your daughter is pretty special too. π

How cool to see him again after so many years. Fun fun!
I have been to a few concerts, my favorite was probably Michael Card. Although I really enjoyed Francesca Battistelli, too.
I just got “The Pirate Bride” from my library today. π I love the cover.
I imagine their concert would be beautiful, Amanda! Hope you enjoy reading The Pirate Brides. π
I recently went to hear Paul Wilbur. I love his music.
He’s new-to-me. Now I’ll have to go listen to some of his music, Caryl. π
I have been to quote a few concerts over the years. I especially enjoy a good Christmas concert/show.
There’s something extra special about attending a concert at Christmastime, isn’t there? π
Iβve only been to a few concerts. I canβt really pick one as a favorite, they all have special memories.
Each concert is special in its own way. π Thanks for joining us, Connie.
I have never been to a concert actually. Kinda’ sad. I’d love to go to one; maybe this summer!
Hope you get to soon, Laura. They’re always a lot of fun!
Hi Savanna! The only concerts I’ve been to have been school band concerts. LOL!
Hi Cynthia! π There’s nothing wrong with school band concerts. You’re showing your support, right? π
I am telling my age as I saw the Beach Boys and Chicago! I have gone to some musical presentations at the local performing arts center.
I think that would be a lot of fun, Cathy! π
I’ve been to a few concerts, but I think my favorite was taking my youngest daughter to see Billy Ray Cyrus’s “Achy, Breaky Heart”concert when she was about 8 years old. She was so excited!
How fun to share in that with your daughter, Linda. So sweet!
Great author! Love her books!
We appreciate you stopping by, Sunnie! Good luck in the drawing. π
