Welcome back to the blog, Meghan. I’m so thrilled to have you here today. Congratulations on your upcoming release, Amongst the Roses. I am totally celebrating this book with you, my friend. I’m so excited for readers to enjoy this beautiful story.

My dear friend—thank you so much for having me! You have been such a gift to me in releasing this story. Your friendship and support mean the world.

I’m reading it again this week and enjoying it even more than I did the first time. 🙂 *Readers, stay tuned for my review on Friday.

So let’s talk about your book. What do YOU love most about this story?

I love how this story is finally finished. Once and for all. 🙂 No, but really. I love that I got to share a passion of my heart—the Civil War and Pennsylvania—through fictional characters and a story that, I pray, honors how good God is, and how He holds us all in the palm of His hands even in the midst of tragedy and hardship.

What first drew you to write Civil War fiction?

Learning about it in fourth grade, and reading books like Little Women, and Lynn Austin’s Refiner’s Fire series. It just captured my imagination from age nine, and I ran with it.

A girl after my own heart. 😉

Which character was the easiest to write and why?

Connor, perhaps. He became 3D, so to speak, the quickest for me.

Ah, yes, Connor.  He certainly caught my attention quickly. 😉

What’s something you learned while researching for this story?

That my state of Pennsylvania went over and above President Lincoln’s call for volunteers, and therefore, sent down 15,000 troops (1 regiment of artillery, and 1 of cavalry) a day after the First Battle of Bull Run who were fully trained and ready.

Wow, I didn’t know that. Cool!

Can you share a favorite quote or scene from the book with us?

Awwww, I LOVE it. (Love the pretty graphic too, btw!)

Thank you so much for joining us today, Meghan! It’s been a treat to have you stop by. Is there anything else you’d like to add? Any upcoming projects you can share with us?

This book was a labor of love over quite a number of years. It was written at a different time in my life—one I’m grateful for, but a different season entirely. And it got this book into being. And it got me you, my dear friend. Seriously, y’all—surround yourselves with likeminded, Christ-centered friends who will encourage, listen well, and remind you why you write. Thank you for being that friend, Savanna. 🙂

You’re so sweet, girl. You are a huge blessing in my life too! So excited to walk beside you and watch your stories unfold. Wishing you many blessings in 2018. 🙂 Hugs!
