I so enjoyed reading the last book from Andrea Boeshaar, that I decided to read another story from her. This tale, Love’s Guiding Light, is such an interesting story. It is about a woman who tends to a lighthouse, and the journey she takes through various and sudden changes in her world. So often, life seems to take a person down an unwanted path, but many times, it might be just the direction one needs to take.
Amanda Lewis wants to keep moving toward the goal she has had for years, but certain events alter her plans. However, she hopes to fulfill her goal even if it might mean going against the advice of her family. She feels that what she knows and loves best, tending to the lighthouse, is the destiny she must keep; yet, people try to either persuade or scare her out of staying where she is. What will she do if her home gets take from her? Once her world turns upside down, Amanda must decide how she will govern her new days even if it means giving up all she loves and holds dearly.
Ezra Danfield is new in town, and is trying to make a new life for himself and his daughter. His new occupation is quite different from the one he previously gave his attention to, but he wants a better life for his family. After meeting various individuals, he is introduced to Miss Lewis, who interestingly helped guide him safely ashore. Ezra was a sea captain, so who better to be acquainted with than a lighthouse keeper? Ezra’s plans seem to change on the daily, but he is doing his best to become a land lover. Yet in doing so, what other things will he come to love? Decisions must be made, and he does not have much time to make those choices.
This is the perfect quick read for the weekend. This story contains a dash of intrigue along with a bit of romance, love, loss, and joy. If you love stories set in a historical setting, you will enjoy learning more about the characters in this book. Happy reading friends!
About the Book
Amanda Lewis is about to lose the only home she’s ever known–the cottage at the North Point Light in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her mother had received the commission to operate the lighthouse, but tragedy rips away that commission.
Captain Ezra Danfield is new to the city. He plans to give his daughter stability, which includes a home and proper schooling. But a violent storm on Lake Michigan threatens their lives on the night of their arrival, and it’s Amanda Lewis, operating the North Point Light, who guides them safely into Milwaukee’s harbor. He makes a point to thank her, and when she asks for his help, Ezra cannot refuse.
However, Amanda has a few cockamamie ideas that could ruin her life, so Ezra must put a stop to them–even if it means shedding light on the darkest recesses of his heart and soul.
