Today I’m back with a FIRST LINE FRIDAY + REVIEW of Sharee Stover‘s debut, Secret Past. Keep reading to see what her intriguing first line is below…
Here’s my REVIEW:
I haven’t read a lot of suspense books, but I’m so glad I picked this one up. Secret Past hooked me from the first page and kept me guessing to the very end. I instantly sympathized for our heroine, whose life is flipped upside down in a heartbeat. Katie is a fighter and her strength only grows throughout her journey to safety. You’ll find yourself cheering her on just as I did.
And what’s not to love about Daniel? He’s her protector. He’s strong, smart, understanding, kind. I tell you, he’ll capture your heart too.
There is plenty of action and high-risk danger to keep the pace flying. Many scenes, especially the hiking scene (you’ll have to read it to know what I mean), had me flipping the pages as fast as I could read them. Twists and intriguing characters rounded out the suspense nicely.
Katie and Daniel’s relationship unfolded very naturally. It’s definitely complicated, but all the loose threads are tied up nicely in the end. Secret Past was an easy-to-read and easy-to-love book. I hope you’ll check it out! I look forward to more stories by this debut author.
I received a copy from the author. No review, positive or otherwise, was required—all opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Her life is a lie
She’s not who she thinks she is
With gunmen at her doorstep, Katie Tribani learns her true identity. She’s been in witness protection since childhood, and now her crime-lord father has found her. As bullets fly, US marshal Daniel Knight whisks her to safety—but not for long. Captured and held prisoner, only Katie can unearth her secret past…if she can survive long enough.

And the first line is:
“Uncle Nick is going to kill me.”

Happy Friday!
My FLF comes from a book im starting soon, Honeysuckle Dreams by Denise Hunter……
Playing house was just a little too easy for Hope Daniels. Her special chicken casserole waited in the oven, covered with foil; butter beans were simmering on the stovetop; and the yeasty smell of baked rolls hung in the air.
Have a great weekend!😀
Oh, that makes my mouth water!!! Yummy!!
Mmmmmmm, I like the sounds of that! 🙂 I love Denise Hunter’s books. Thanks for sharing, Susan.
Savanna! Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Blessings to you!!
It was a delight to read, Sharee. I look forward to your next one. 🙂
Happy Friday! My first line is from Joel C. Rosenberg’s book The Kremlin Conspiracy, which my husband grabbed from me and read first:
“Louisa Sherbatov had just turned six, but she would never turn seven.”
Ohhhh, how intriguing. Now I’ll have to go find that book too. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Becky.
I’m going to show the first line of The Pirate Bride by Kathleen Y’Barbo:
Mama may have been named for the great-grandmother who traveled from England on the Mayflower, but the fact certainly did not keep her in the land of her birth.
That’s a great first line. I love the cover of that one. Definitely adding it to my TBR list. Thanks, Paula.
Happy Friday friend! Wow…what an intense first line, but this is such a perfect line to start a Love Inspired Suspense story. I haven’t read one of these books in such a long time, but I remember them being so good! As you know, I love the Love Inspired Historical books. 🙂 However, I will have to add this book my Amazon wish list. Have a great day!
I really think you’d enjoy it, Heather. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by to visit!
Happy Friday! My first lines:
“The Humpback Bridge had stood for almost a millennium, the sole link between the nations of Rhannon and Rhylla. It was an impressive sight; at the bridge’s peak it curved over one hundred feet above the River Archior, spanning a vast body of water that flowed aquamarine in summer and gravestone grey in Winter.”
It really sounds like a tale right?
It’s from State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury.
I’m nearly finished and if you love some fantasy in all shades of grey and …sorrow it’s the book you need.
Wow, so descriptive. This one is new to me too. Thanks for taking the time to share, Sophie. Happy Reading!
Happy Friday!
Wow that looks like an intense read! The book I’m sharing on my blog is A Sparrow in Terezin by Kristy Cambron but I’m sharing the book I’m currently (re)reading to get ready for the new Hallmark movie this weekend Once Upon A Prince by Rachel Hauck: “What did he say? The storm gusts moving over the Atlantic must have garbled his words.” Hope you have a blessed weekend!
Hi Becca! Looks like you and I share similar reading tastes. I LOVE Kristy Cambron and Rachel Hauck, though I still haven’t read Once Upon a Prince. Sure wish I’d had the Hallmark channel recently to catch the movie. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
The county Bookmobile comes to my town next Thursday, and this book is at the top of my request list! 🙂
Fun! Hope you enjoy it, Barb. 🙂
Sounds good! Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
Hope you get to read it soon, Emilee. 🙂
Sounds exciting!
