Whether you homeschool your kids or not – whether you’re even a parent yet or not – this book will encourage you to establish a faith-filled foundation in your life with Christ as the Head of your home and your hearts. The author from the first page to the last shares from God’s Word and her own family experiences to reveal what true home discipleship really is and how it goes way beyond your ABC’s and 123’s.
Personalized and heartfelt, this book explains how “Bringing up a child in the way he should go” should be the life-long commitment and pursuit of every parent. By their own example and God’s grace, they should seek to educate their children in spirit and in truth. And author Kimberly Williams offers some great encouraging advice for us all to practice.
This book is easy to read and shares wisdom on the Biblical mandate for families, what the structure of the home should look like, and how to handle the practicalities, the individualities, even the opposition you may face from time to time. The author reveals methods and tools that worked for their family and other methods that did not. Readers will also find at the end of every chapter some great provoking questions, fun and helpful teaching ideas, and further Scripture passages to study.
What I enjoyed most about this book is how it applied to my life even though my husband and I don’t have any children yet. We were both homeschooled and have always planned on homeschooling our children someday, but this book really convicted me that home education is really a matter of the heart in the parents. To teach them well, we need to be living in the Word right now and breathing in His graces on a daily basis. Every Mom and Dad needs to be grounded in their faith first themselves. Whether you’re a teacher yet or not, there’s always more you can be taught. I praise the Lord that He is still working on us and I can’t wait until the day my babies are born and the two of us are blessed to share with them what the Lord is teaching us.
Thank you, Kimberly for writing this book and sharing it with me. I will certainly be spreading the good word about Home Discipleship to my friends and family. (I’ve got 4 little nephews and nieces.) 😉 I encourage you, my readers, to save a spot on your bookshelf for this one as well. I have no doubt your family will be blessed by it too.
