Happy Friday, friends. What are you reading this week? It’s time to share our first lines!
I was so excited to see this book below go on sale this week. After reading the first book in the Unblemished Trilogy, I HAD to know what happened next. This isn’t my typical genre to read, but I’m so glad that I stepped out of my familiar favorites and gave it a try.
*NOTE: Unraveling isn’t really a stand-alone novel, though. You’ll definitely want to start with Unblemished first, but they’re both amazing!
Ready for the first line? π

Happy Friday, my friends!!
YA usually isn’t my go-to but I have read some great reviews for Unraveling! Hereβs the first line from my next read:
βFowltown Village, Georgia
Big Chestnut Moon (October) 1817
Captain Marcus Buck dropped to one knee beside an Indianβs crumpled form and swept a hand down her face, lowering her lids over sightless eyes.β
Drawn by the Frost Moon: Bitter Eyes No More by April W. Gardner
Me neither, Beth, but I was so glad I gave it a try. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your great first line. π
That first line brings several questions to my mind. π Iβm featuring A Most Peculiar Circumstance by Jen Turano on my blog, but here I will share the first line from a novel I recently published called Reluctant To Wed. βSitting in her grandfatherβs traveling coach, Emma suddenly felt the impact of her decision.β
I know, right? π So glad you could join us here, Anneliese. Now I want to read both those books you mentioned. π
On my page I shared the first line from Heather Day Gilbert’s “God’s Daughter” a fantastic story rich in viking history. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who enjoys Historical Fiction.
I’ll share here an old favorite of mine “Heidi”
From the old and pleasantly situated village of Mayenfeld, a footpath winds through green and shady meadows to the food of the mountains, which on this side look down from their stern and lofty heights upon the valley below.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing a classic with us, Trisha. π I’ve heard a lot about “God’s Daughter” too. I need to read it too!
I love the cover! I think I have seen this book before…possibly the series. It looks really interesting, and I love the first line. Have a great weekend Savanna!
I know, the covers are gorgeous!! I’d love to know what you think of these books. Hope you have a great weekend too, Heather. π
I will have to read them then. π I know these are YA, but are they in the utopian/dystopian genre?
I’m not exactly sure. I believe they’re considered urban fantasy, but you’d have to check her website for more info.
this is not my typical genre either but it’s SO GOOD!!
My current first line is from Love Held Captive by Shelley Shepard Gray: “There was almost nothing there. Almost.”
I can’t wait for book 3!!! π Thanks for stopping by, Carrie. I love Shelley’s books. π Need to add this one to my list.
“How can I help?” The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay. I am on page 60 and It is very good so far.
Another one I really need to read. π Thanks for sharing, Emilee.
