Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman - My Review | The Engrafted Word

Welcome to PART 3 – and the conclusion – of my Study Book Review and Giveaway series. If you missed PART 1 and my review of James, you can read it here. You can also check out PART 2 and my review of David here.

I am so excited to share my third study review and even more excited to draw a winner next week for THEIR CHOICEΒ  of one of these three devotionals by Beth Moore. (James, David, or Esther) Remember, all you gotta do is leave your name and email in the comments below to be registered to win.

Now for some girl talk with our friend, Esther.

The front cover of this study reads, “It’s Tough Being a Woman“. Naturally, that draws us in, doesn’t it, ladies? We all can relate and empathize in some way. We’re all going through our own struggles and challenges in life. And we know Esther certainly had her fair share. πŸ˜‰

Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman - My Review | The Engrafted WordFor a book of the Bible that never once actually mentions God, it miraculously – and divinely – weaves a very spiritual and fascinating tale with obvious signs of the Lord’s penmanship written all over it.

Beth Moore takes us on another epic journey with this study book. I was already a little familiar with the story of Esther, but I was surprised by how much I still had to learn from the Biblical account as well as from Beth’s commentary. Similar to our favorite novels, this story – and study – introduces key characters and their respective goals and obstacles, the “villains”, the dangerous risks, and the victories. All of it combined sets an intriguing stage.

Read further – beyond the impressive feasts, royal crowds, and dangerous threats – and you’ll find many spiritual lessons and applications for our own lives. Through following Esther’s journey, we watch her risk all for the sake of obedience, pushing past her fears and insecurities and weaknesses. We see the hand of the Lord move in mighty providential ways through each person, incident, and circumstance throughout the book.

I enjoyed this study very much. Not only did I learn from Esther and relate to her, but I was also humbled and instructed by the others as well. (Yes, I even found myself relating to evil Haman a time or two. How scary is that?!) There is much for the heart to ponder in this devotional. Plenty of valuable lessons to convict and encourage. It was an up-and-down road for me at times to follow alongside Esther, but one that I do not regret taking in the slightest. It pushed and prodded and pointed me in a wonderful direction, turning my eyes towards the Lord’s way and will for me.

This study book asks some wonderful questions and tells a great story, accompanied by Beth’s signature humor and heart for the Scriptures. I have no doubt your own delight for the Word will grow from this wonderful devotional.

It’s one of those books you don’t just read. You experience it as if you lived it yourself.
