Where Healing Starts is a story that reveals a heartbroken family struggling to find their way in the world and with each other. Each sibling we meet has been scarred in their own way from past hurts and is in need of God’s healing grace. My heart broke for their brokenness as I eagerly watched and waited for them to find their hope in God.
The title gave me hope that these characters would find healing, but the journey to get there wasn’t the easiest to read. Joanna and Blake, two of the siblings, are both lost and stuck in a pattern of hurting others. I didn’t connect with them as much as I would have hoped. There is a lot of pain and bitterness in their hearts. At times, the issues were a bit heavy-hearted for me, but I was glad to see the family eventually pull together.
This is the second in the series, focusing on different siblings than the first book. The two are clearly connected, but I didn’t feel lost even though I haven’t yet read the first one. However, I would recommend starting with Where Hope Starts so you can get a proper introduction to the family. π I’m sure you’ll appreciate their journey that much more.
One of my favorite lines in the book summarized the theme very well. βHeartache is all any of us have without forgiveness.β Learning to forgive and love unconditionally are the highlights of this family’s story.
This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the author for my copy.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Joanna, full of bitterness over the past, can no longer ignore the growing storm inside her and is bent on self-destruction as she seeks to ease her pain. But the refuge she seeks is always out of her reach.
Her brother Blake must choose between what has always been safe and what he has always wanted. One mistake after another leads him down a dangerous path.
The one for all, all for one sibling bond canβt help them now. They are both determined to hang onto their anger, never forgetting. Never forgiving. They see no reason to trust God.
After so many years of turmoil, will the Hannigan siblings find refuge in the God who loves them? Or will they get lost along the way?
